A Michigan student hurled a metal chair at her unsuspecting teacher, knocking her to the ground, during a heated argument with another student — in what leaders are calling proof of the state’s failing school system.
Insane video shows the Flint Southwestern Academy High School student pacing near the classroom’s door Thursday as she screams at an out-of-view peer.
The bickering teenagers hurled profanities at one another, with the attacker apparently calling the other “big as f–k.”
The teacher — who can be seen attempting to quell the chaos — was standing between the students when she caught the brunt of the attacker’s ire.
The chair struck her in the head and she dropped to the ground, remaining immobile for several seconds.
Her students seemed to care little, with two teenagers instantly engaging in fisticuffs over her injured body.
The unnamed teacher was rushed to the hospital and released the same day, according to the Flint Community Schools Superintendent Kevelin Jones.
The student will be “held accountable according to the law,” Jones said.
Local leaders seized on the video — which racked up more than 8 million views across Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter — as an indication of the state’s poor school systems.
“This video perfectly captures the sad state of Education in Michigan – no sense of order or direction, no respect for teachers, and worst of all, NO LEARNING,” said Former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, who is planning to run as a Republican in the upcoming Senate race.
“Failure to educate young Michiganders is a recipe for increased CRIME, upticks in UNEMPLOYMENT, and SOCIETAL DISORDER. Michiganders deserve better.”
The injured teacher is “doing well,” according to Jones.
Shockingly, she has chosen to return to the classroom.
In addition to the law, the student will be held to the district’s Code of Conduct, though it’s unclear what discipline has been taken or whether the student was expelled.
