Tony Bobulinski threatens to sue Rep. Dan Goldman for ‘defamatory commentary’

A lawyer for former Biden family business partner Tony Bobulinski threatened to sue Rep. Dan Goldman on Tuesday, accusing the New York Democrat of defaming his client.

The threat was prompted by an X post from last week, in which Goldman states, “Tony Bobulinski has used a Trump campaign-paid lawyer to make false allegations since October 2020.”

In a letter to Goldman, Bobulinski’s lawyer, JesseBinnall, charges that the New York rep’s tweet is “defamatory” and demands that it be taken down. 

“To be clear, as you are well aware given your position, Mr. Bobulinski has not told any lies about his firsthand knowledge of the Biden family,” Binnal wrote in the demand letter.  

“Your statement, as though it were a matter of fact, that Mr. Bobulinski has lied to federal investigators, as well as Congress, is defamatory per se and will not be tolerated,” he added. “Further, President Trump’s campaign has never paid Mr. Bobulinski’s legal fees. In fact, Mr. Bobulinski has paid over $500,000, in legal fees to numerous lawyers in law firms out of his own pocket since 2020.” 

“If you do not immediately delete the post from X and publicly retract your statement on X within five days of receiving this letter, we will file suit against you.” 

Binnall has represented Trump and the Trump campaign in several legal matters. 

Stefan Passantino, an attorney who has also represented Bobulinski, has close ties to Trump as well –having served in the Office of White House Counsel during his administration and also having worked for the Trump Organization.

Goldman’s office did not respond to The Post’s request for comment. 

The tweet was still up as of Tuesday evening and had been viewed more than 260,000 times, per X. 

New York’s 10th District representative made the post the day after Bobulinski testified before the House Oversight Committee as part of the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s alleged involvement in his family’s business dealings. 

“The Biden family business was Joe Biden, period,” Bobulinski, a former Navy officer who worked alongside first son Hunter Biden and first brother James Biden on a venture with CEFC China Energy, alleged during the hearing. 

Since 2020, Bobulinski has been the most outspoken former Biden family associate — publicly calling the president a liar for dismissing documents from Hunter’s abandoned laptop as Russian disinformation ahead of Biden’s final debate against Trump.

Bobulinski also repeatedly appeared on national TV to detail his interactions with the Biden family, including a pair of alleged May 2017 conversations with Joe Biden.
